Florence

Florence

Oh Florence, where do I begin?

She sat by the river, basking in the Tuscan sun. Old in age, but still as beautiful as ever. It was late June when I first met her, and I’ll never forget it.

She told me stories of her past and present, though she didn’t speak through words, but through scenes. Scenes of the life around her, within her, near and far. They were lovely. The lavender in the tucked away garden, the warmth of the air, the rolling green hills in the distance, the salmon colored walls, her art from long ago, all of these were things she told me.

I am forever grateful to have seen and witnessed her charming, grandiose taste for life.

Thank you, Florence!

My Summer Style: A Lookbook

Summer is the perfect season to showcase beautiful dresses, colorful outfits, and statement pieces within one’s wardrobe. Whether it be jeans with an elegant top, or a statement dress with a cute pair of shoes, I often love to mix simplistic essentials with a twist of color. The photos below show some of the outfits I have been wearing this summer; they exhibit the essence of my summer style!

A Pop of Color

A Pop of Color

This summer I have been experimenting with brighter colors. This outfit is one of my favorite looks I have put together! My go-to look is a pair of blue jeans (and in this case, blue jeans with an adorable floral pattern) with a white tee and a cute pair of shoes to wear out on the town. I love to add a pop of color to a simple outfit; I added this yellow clutch to liven up this classic look. The end result is a perfect outfit for the summer!

Nashville – Travel Diary

Nashville – Travel Diary

Over Spring Break, my family and I took a trip to Nashville, Tennessee. This has been on the top of my travel list for a long time; I’ve wanted to check out some colleges there! I’ve always been drawn to the charm of the South and I found that Tennessee felt very at home the second I got there! Nothing prepared me for the beautiful scene of Tennessee in the Spring. I was awestruck at the rolling green hills, the blooming white trees, and the charming homes surrounded by nothing but miles of land.

For our week visit, we stayed in the quaint little town of Franklin. Franklin has such a special way about it; with friendly faces and a small town feel that you don’t come across very often. The house we stayed in was built in the 1800’s. While being historic, the house, was also beautifully decorated with a warm rustic feel. (This house made Instagram photoshoots so easy and effortless with its many backdrops 😉 ).

Since we were staying out in the countryside, we made a day trip to Leiper’s Fork. Leiper’s Fork is a very small town with a main street consisting of cute boutiques and furniture stores. The main attraction, however, is a restaurant/bar called Puckett’s. Puckett’s is the real deal when it comes to good barbecue and music. We ate dinner there while listening to a great band– it was my first real taste of the South, and I loved every minute of it!

While in Leiper’s Fork, I also decided to showcase this beautiful Free People dress (shown in the photos below). The sun was beginning to set and there was a nearby grass field that was so picturesque. I knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity!

Unfortunately, I lost almost all of my pictures from my Nashville trip (iPhones and ocean water don’t mix), so these are the only two salvageable pictures from my actual visit. We visited my new favorite store, Imogene + Willie. I had been eyeing this store from Instagram for a year prior to the trip, so my one wish when I came to Nashville was to purchase a good ole’ pair of American made jeans… and that’s exactly what I did! They are the best jeans I have ever owned and I have a feeling they are going to last for a very long time!

Overall, my trip to Tennessee left me wanting to go back the second I left. I cannot wait to return and maybe someday call this place home!

McPolin Barn in Christy Dawn

McPolin Barn in Christy Dawn

During my trip to Utah, we drove past the McPolin Barn, a historic, stark white barn with a huge American flag lying itself gracefully down the side of the barn. For miles, rolling green fields surround the barn. I knew right when I laid eyes on it that a visit had to take place. This barn made me feel like I was in a completely different time period, and the current world suddenly dispersed from my mind the moment I was there. Prior to my trip, I bought a beautiful, old-fashioned dress from Christy Dawn. As soon as I saw the barn, I pictured how perfect the dress would go with the background of all this barn had to offer. I love the historic resemblance between the barn and the dress – it was almost like a look back in time.

A Trip to Park City

A Trip to Park City

This past summer was such a laid back, mellow,  breath of fresh air. Reconnecting with the long-lost beach days, spending my birthday at the lake house surrounded by family, and visiting the most breathtaking place, Utah, consisted of just a few things that made this summer unforgettable!

As my family and I landed in Salt Lake to make our trek to Park City, I was in complete awe. I had never seen such a beautiful and raw landscape, with open land for miles and miles. The scenery painted an image of the early American Frontier, and how the land is still so magnificent as it must’ve been a hundred years ago.

We stayed in the most beautiful house over-looking Deer Valley and the rolling green hills that surrounded us every which way. We came to meet up with family friends and attend the Yurt Stock, a quaint, family-style music festival nestled out in the country. Everyone set up their own tarp with lawn chairs and an ice-cooler, which would serve as the table and the occasional footrest. Barbecued Sliders were the main dish, while an overload on chips and salsa was the dessert. What I loved most about this festival was that everybody knew each others names. Friends would go from tarp-to-tarp, chatting and enjoying the warm evening, while listening to great live music. From the line-up of home-made bands that played (one of them including my dad), I loved the rawness of the spontaneous duets that would take place, and the dogs that would occasionally hang out with the band members on stage. I could go on about all the aspects I loved about this one-of-a-kind gathering, but to put it in short, the Yurt Stock truly showed me the value and richness of family.

On the last day in Park City, we took an outing to the McPolin Barn. This barn caught my eye that second we first drove past it. The huge American Flag that swayed from the top of the barn accented the beautiful stark white barn wood. To me, this site truly represented America in all its beauty.

This trip to Utah awakened a yearning to explore the states all around me. I’m so intrigued with exploring the world, and still am, yet there’s some pretty beautiful places right here in the backyard of America!

San Francisco – Photo Diary

Napa, California

We decided to visit Napa for two days and explore the wine country. It is such a beautiful area with so many great locations for pictures. Our facorite town in Napa was St. Helena. If you go to Napa, you need to visit this picturesque little town!

 San Francisco, California

By far the best gluten free pancakes I’ve ever had!

Plow – Our favorite new breakfast spot! It’s a very popular place for locals and has a line around the block on the weekends! If you go, plan ahead and wake up early so you get a good spot!

Ideale Ristorante – Our go-to Italian Restaurant in the city. The food is amazing.

I had only been to San Francisco once before when I was very young, but I’m so glad I got to go back and get the full city experience! This city is buzzing with energy and great food. I can confidently say I ate my way through each day! I also had the best luck shopping with all my favorite stores in the the same area as each other! San Francisco is definitely a city that everyone should visit, and I cannot wait to return!
